First Steps in the Spam Solutions: (May 14, 2004)

The amount of SPAM (unsolicited Bulk / Junk E-mail) in increasing rapidly on the internet today. Upon the request of our customers, we have implemented new SPAM Prevention Techniques. In addition to the spam filter that was implemented last year on our mail server, we have been implementing RBL's (Real-time, Black-Lists) on our mail server. This means that any mail server that is known to send spam will no longer be able to communicate with our mail server. This will reduce the amount of unwanted e-mail, and improve the stability of our e-mail services. Currently, we have implemented the following black list servers: The Open Relay Database (http://www.ordb.org), Spam Cop Blacklist server (http://spamcop.net), and the Spamhaus Spam and Exploit Blacklist (http://www.spamhaus.org).

Unfortunately, use of such blacklists can potentially block good e-mail. Sometimes even responsible systems administrators make mistakes in their configuration that can cause them to be blacklisted. In such cases, good systems administrators will do what is necessary to correct the problem and remove themselves from the blacklists. Some administrators simply do not accept the responsibility for the configuration of their e-mail servers or the actions of their users. Our policy is to simply not allow these problematic servers with irresponsible systems administrators to communicate with us.

This has been put into effect Monday May 17, 2004.
